An international house for students
The Foyer Merici takes in 79 students, French or foreign, older or underage. It is not just a place to sleep. In fact, the foyer offers a positive life environment for a student, its studies and an opening to the world thanks to:
- the mutual help,
- the friendships promoted by the friendly environment,
- the many voluntary services propose (school help, solidary projects aboard…),
- human and spiritual accompaniment,
- rules of living in a community.
Students can enroll for the university year or for a semester. Students in internships may also enroll.
Location
The Foyer Merici is located in a green heart in a calm neighborhood, close to the city center.
Some reference points to where the foyer is located are:
- 7 minutes walking to the University Catholique de l’Ouest and 15 minutes on bicycle to the Ircom
- 10 minutes walking to the train station SNCF
- 15 minutes walking to the city center
There are many tram and bus stops near the foyer to get easily around the city of Angers.
Times
During the week, the entrance’s office of the foyer is open from 8:30am to 22:00pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 8:30am to 17:00pm on Friday.
If the student thinks she will return after the entrance is close, she will have to ask for a card that will allow her to open the door before 3:00am.
If she expects to sleep out, she will have to inform the person in charge and leave the address of the place where she is staying, in case there is an emergency and it is necessary to contact her.
During weekends, the entrance’s office will not be manned permanently, and each student has a card all year long that allows them to open the door of the foyer.
Meals
Half pension
Everyone has meals together in order to favor the communal living and the homily atmosphere.
For that reason, half pension (breakfast and dinner) is mandatory.
At noon, students can eat outside or at the foyer. In the dining room, microwaves are available to students to warm their meals.

Weekends and festive days
There is a kitchen that will be open for the students who stay the weekends. Also, inside, there is a freezer and all the cooking material necessary.
It is forbidden to cook and to eat food in the bedrooms.
A friendly place where partying and resting have their space.
- Integration weekend on the month of September.
- Festive evening for Christmas.
- Festivity of Saint Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursulines.
- Barbecue in the garden.
- Mardi Gras or Lent.
